No. You're not just in the dark. Canada has rejected white south africans claim for refugee status.

A case of a white family seeking asylum, on the basis that they were persecuted for being white in a majority black country, was rejected in 2017 by the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB).

We'll have to see what happens.  So far its apparently just an Aussie minister talking about this, that's a good start, but its not the government saying yet that they will take them in.

Its a major story in most of our news media...including the observation that Australia seems to be the only country who cares about the whites.

That's a long way from welcoming persecuted South Africans, but at least parliamentarians are talking about it.

The comments from Mr. Dutton, a member of the center-right governing Liberal Party, also raised eyebrows in Australia, where immigration is a hot-button issue and Liberal Party politicians have been accused of using race as a political tool.



Thousands of predominantly Muslim migrants from the Middle East and Southeast Asia have languished in offshore detention facilities for years under a policy that denied asylum seekers traveling by boat entrance to Australia. Last year, Australia agreed to pay $53 million in damages to migrants who said they had suffered abuse in the camps.



Mr. Dutton has been a staunch defender of the offshore detention policy, and he has argued that Australia should not accept refugees who would be a burden on the country's social safety net.



In January, Mr. Dutton also blamed African migrants for a rise in crime in Melbourne, claiming in an interview that residents of the city were afraid even to go to restaurants at night "because they're followed home by these gangs."



Critics of the government said that those remarks were intended to scare voters before an election and that official crime data showed no such correlation with immigration.

According to government statistics, more immigrants to Australia are born in South Africa than in any other African country. As of 2016, 181,400 Australian residents were South African natives, according to the latest census. The government does not break down that figure by race, but white South Africans have been moving to Australia in large numbers for decades.

Even though the white Seth Efrikans are orginally Dutch, for some reason Australia has taken more of a liking to them than other countries have.

Seth Efrika has always had a positive relationship with Australia, given their many common national characteristics.



Both were nations created by colonialism (I'm not saying that's good or bad...just our shared reality).



Both practiced a form of apartheid (Australia was very racist until the 1970's).



Our climates and geography are very similar.



Our cultural personalities are very similar. (Probably due to the factors above).



Both nations have a shared passion for sport.



Whilst Australia shed its racist policies some time before South Africa, we benefited from the fact that our indigenous population was both small and under-developed. South African whites are very much the minority, whilst Australian whites outnumber aborigines 50 to 1.



Nonetheless, some of these commonalities also apply to Canada, so it surprises me that Canada will welcome muslims with open arms, but not their own kind. Canada has no right or reason to climb on a high moral pedestal. Nor the US or New Zealand (where South Africans will also be welcomed).



Australia abandoned its pro-apartheid stand, and Canada always opposed it. It was abhorrent...but South Africans were not alone. Apartheid was very much modelled on the American segregation model. Black South Africans probably deserve to have their country returned to them...but in an ordered and humane manner, allowing and enabling whites to leave with dignity, to nations that accept them with understanding and humility for their own sordid past.

 This was the same with America under Obama and still much of Europe.  Efforts were taken to bring in large numbers of Muslims.  Why? probably the left's virtue signalling and globalism.  The lefties can pat themseloves on the back for being wonderfully non racist by taking in a diverse group, even though many are incompatible with western values.  Also the left wants to eliminate white majorities and feed their parties votes from a permanent minority underclass many of which are dependent on government for support.

South Africa used to have lot of Ahkenazis, but most have left. Britain, Canada and the US won't fast track Afrikaaners who need to flee now. Most that emigrate will end up in Australia and New Zealand. I pity the poor white South Africans who can't leave.

Exactly the same as every other relationship between colonial white people and indigenous people the world over. Uncomfortable, discordant and resentful.
