Quote from: "Odinson"A girl was arrested for planning a school massacre..

She is in the loony bin now...

Was she in the talking phase or did she have weapons to carry it out?

I remember she had acquired a weapon..

Making detailed plans is also illegal..

It is a credible threat..

Merely saying that you are gonna kill people isnt enough for arrest.

I suspect that is changing.

Governments cannot afford the risk of shrugging and saying "It's OK, it's just an empty threat", any more than you can say "It's OK, it's not a real gun" when one is pointing at you.

There used to be a poster on this forum that threatened legal action every time anyone threatened to slap him..

If he did call the police, they didn't take him seriously.

Quote from: "@realAzhyaAryola"What is the need to own an AR-15 if you are not going to shoot your enemies in a world war? If I were the leader of a country, I would not want my citizens owning this kind of weapon. For what? What are you going to use it for? Hunting rifles will be okay but assault rifles don't seem to belong in the hands of mere citizens but soldiers at war.

Maybe the answer is to ban bullets. One can own the cool rifle of their choice but they can only shoot with toy bullets. I am a mother so this is my opinion on the matter because I would not want my sons to get a hold of an AR-15. I will not approve of it.

I get what you are saying Azhya, but this is where some of the confusion comes in, the AR-15 is not an assault weapon. You have to pull the trigger each time you want to fire it. Only the military has assault weapons, the ability to hold the trigger down for constant firing. Assault weapons have been banned here for a long time, and would require a special license and high fees etc to own one. The AR-15 "looks" big and scary because of the clip.
I've come here to chew bubble gum, and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

It's madness.

Yet 25 years ago you could own an m16 or ak47 in australia

Up until the late 80s here you could own an automatic weapon. My friend even had a fully auto ak47.

Quote from: "Bricktop"Full auto is also legal, is it not?

Full auto is illegal here, the AR-15 is semi auto.

That's what I thought.

There is no confusion.

The AR-15 shares many characteristics with it's assault weapon bigger brother, in particular it's ability to cause lethal injuries. The American government banned full autos and so the AR 15 was modified to semi-auto...still capable of rapid firing.

But that's OK. Because they still allowed a cheap modification called a bump stop that effectively enabled it to be full auto.

The whole bump stock thing is just clownish..

The gun is still semi-auto.

You just install a loose stock that goes back and forth from recoil..

You pull the trigger once and then rest your finger on some plastic cover..

The trigger hits your resting finger as the gun moves back and forth.. Creating the "automatic fire" effect.

I should look for a video of bump stock action.

Btw..

Taking a woman to the range is a nice date idea.

The purpose of the date is to show her how you handle your weapon.
