I'll go you one better. That stones-endowed leader should scale back US funding to NATO, if not cease funding altogether. NATO's purpose was satisfied once the threat of Soviet expansion was realised... thirty years ago. You know, when the Soviet Union disbanded.

What has NATO been involved in since, other than what those on the far left decry as "colonialism"? Country after country being gobbled up... this is precisely what the architects of the dissolution of the Soviet Union agreed should not happen. Ostensibly, it's the same sorts of crap the leftits bitch about when it comes to the subject of nations like the United States.

If Russia wanted Ukraine, they could practically annex it wholesale. A bang-up job of depleting the West's fortunes and the ability to defend itself all but assures us of this. From a political standpoint, the annexation makes less sense than having a buffer state between Russia and the ever expanding NATO influence. A buffer state that is sympathetic to Russian interests in ways the Ukrainian powerbrokers have demonstrated are not. Russia could interact with it, offer it humanitarian aid and protection in return for favourable trade deals, warm port access and the benefit of not having cunts like our current government setting up military and biological weapons facilities on their border.

Ukraine is definitely taking a backseat in the news cycle, I agree. And in spite of Valdemort Zelenskyy's increasingly tearful cries for mo' money. Fuck him, the guy's an asshat and a criminal, he deserves to be cut off.

I doubt that Ukraine will recover within six months though. That economy has been cratered, it will take some time before it digs itself out of the rubble. It has been milked for its worth.

You are right in two respects. At least I think you are. The average Ukrainian will be happy to see the back of us. They'll welcome the silence in place of gunfire at least. If I could put myself in the shoes of your average Ukrainian, I'd be happy if I never heard of NATO ever again.
