Quote from: J E B Stuart on October 03, 2025, 09:49:44 PMI saw The Fabulous Thunderbirds in a bar back in the mid-70s.  Shot the shit with Jimmy Vaughn during a break. Formed in 1974, it wasn't until 1986 that they produced a top-10 hit with this classic:

Amen.
I have heard this song before, but I haven't heard of the band.

Jimmie is the older brother of the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan. Here's another good number by The Fabulous Thunderbirds:

Amen.

I've seen 38 Special a coupla times. Formed 1974 in Jacksonville, FL, by Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes, they remain one of the blue blood Southern rock bands. This great number was written by Jim Peterek and Barnes. FYI, Peterek is a legend in his own right, having been in The Ides of March and Survivor. And Donnie Van Zant is brother to Ronnie (RIP) and Johnnie Van Zant, both of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame:

Amen.

Useless Fact:  Ol' Jebbie has never had a Simple Minds song on any of his playlists. Oh well.

They were formed 1977 in Glasgow and have produced a lotta successful music over the years. Although it never made any of my playlists, I do like this song. Wikipedia had this to say about it:

". . . written and composed by the record producer Keith Forsey and the guitarist Steve Schiff for the film The Breakfast Club (1985), Simple Minds initially declined to record it, preferring to record their own material, but accepted after several other acts also declined. . . ."  Well.  Good thing they changed their mind. It became a worldwide hit for them:

Amen.

Deo vindice
