I am just shy of 600 days of an alcohol free life style. It's the best! I feel so good! I recommend it to everyone! Hope you all having a great summer!

I too made the choice, a long time ago, more than half of my life actually. Had I not, I'd have surely been long dead by the end of the Reagan era. But I had a lot of help from others who showed me the way... probably couldn't have done it alone.

We are in the midst of a Chinese global pandemic, that's impacting all of the members of the forum community..
Posters are losing their jobs, we've lost a member of the forum community, and anxiety grows..
In all the years I've been posting I've never felt the way I do right now..
So much is happening so fast....it's overwhelming.
Who died?

Nobody showed me The Way and I undertook no stinky 12 step program. I didn't make any conscious choice to stop drinking alcohol, I simply didn't feel like going to the liquor store to buy take out tinned and bottled shit and getting maggoted like I did on the odd occasion over quarter of a century ago wasn't something that interested me.
I will have a drink again. But not today. Probably not tomorrow or the day after either. Maybe next week sometime, but don't count on it.

If you do a search, you will notice I have not been on here late at night begging Fash to sit on my knee and drink some barrel wash in a while. I am a grandpa now. I am not on the wagon, but I have cut back on the swish.
