Frozen hell is set to descend from the bowels of Canada in a week or so and it's meant to decimate the power grids in the south with so many states to be affected, there won't be much to share, if any.
This happened to Texas a number of years ago and it didn't end well.

Unlike Texas we're not strangers to cold weather here. There will be some issues as there always are when temps swing to one extreme or the other but we've danced this dance before.

Some are talking -34 to -39 Fahrenheit in Northern midwest states and that's without windchill.
Your region won't likely be getting that bad but I doubt it could tolerate half that if prolonged... at least the grid, when every suburbanite family wants to keep their thermostats at 70 or above.
Correct me if I'm wrong but going even further south, many households have no furnaces or heaters (typically not needed) or electric space heaters which will tax the grid further.
I imagine rolling brown outs and a lot of burst pipes.

I'll give you this Frood, it "looks" scary lol, but Im checking my 2 week forecast, and we've already experienced a week of those temperatures not long ago, they don't look so bad, normal for this time of year.
Seeing roughly 25-30 by day, and 10-20 at night.

When it gets down in the single digits by day, then I'll start fussin' a lil lol, especially if windy.
Worse comes to worse, I'll break out the blanket that grandma stitched for me, y'all know the type, thick and heavy as fuck lol.
For real though, my greatest concern has always been losing power and not having heat. We don't typically lose power though. I worry about a cyber attack on the grid or some shit when its this time of year. I do plan to add a wood stove to my house, but I have to wait til Spring because that's when Im replacing my flooring.

"If" that happens, I'll go over the mountain to my Son's. He has a huge generator with plenty of fuel to power his home, plus a fireplace and plenty of wood. I'll prolly have to take my food with me, cause they don't cook, they eat out a lot lol.

I feel Garraty and I will be ok, but I do have extreme concerns for those in Tennessee, Carolina, etc, that were affected by the hurricanes a few months ago. People have already died from the cold weather. A lot are still living in tents.
And our government can go fuck itself, for hindering the help they need!!! Amish have built tiny homes for lots of them, and our government kicked them out because of "building permits" or some shit. We were down visiting the older kids in Florida a few weeks back and one morning it was 59F. I see all these motherfuckers walking around in sweaters and jackets, I'm in a tee shirt!!! I asked my daughter, when its below 70F, does Florida Man fall out of the trees like with the lizards? :crampe:

My friend at work trying to get me to go to Japan with him lol. That place looks clean too. Plus as you know I love Asian culture. Hell, I took 8 years of Okinawan Martial Arts. It has its good and bad, I'd like to learn some Kung Fu.
Btw, I looked up a flight to Sing briefly lol, for shits and giggles, but I need to see how much out of a larger airport, cause it was high priced and a long ass flight out of my neck of the woods.... ranging $1300 for a 35 hour flight, or $2200 for a 25 hour flight. I don't think I can stay seated that long :crampe:

The differences in time are generally layover at the airport/s. So depending on the route, 10 extra hours would be at least half or more on the ground waiting.

In my experience (and I've directed traffic in busy intersections) it's mostly old people of every other description who are the biggest hazards. Imagine being surrounded by dozens of Joe Bidens driving around whenever you venture onto the roads and parking lots.

What irks me most often is the unpredictability; they drive like they're afraid of everything so slam on their brakes for seemingly no reason because there's a leaf in the road or someone in a parking lot two blocks away pulls up to the exit. Some asshole driving aggressively is still preferable because at least you usually know what they're going to do and can adjust your own driving accordingly.
It's the erratic and irrational drivers (often but not exclusively very old people) that get me shaking my fist and shouting obscenities.

I really am interested in coming out there. I doubt it will be this year though, maybe next year lol. I drive a 2015 Ford. It has console text capability. But the auto replies offered are short and limited. I know if I want to give an effective reply, I have to to pull over and concentrate on the message I want to send back.
My past boss driving heavy rigs was the same. He'd get my text but unless it sounded critical, I'd have to wait for 30 mins or 3 hours for a reply.

The wind is beginning to howl. The plunge is coming tonight again, but the coldest so far this season, and will last 2-3 days. I heard its the coldest season we had in 20 years, but I don't believe that number. It's been a few seasons for sure though. At least this will help when mosquito season comes 'round lol, a good cold winter helps with limiting those bastards for the season.

When Im out having fun, at any given time and place, my phone is the last thing Im thinking about. Except maybe to take a pic or two for memory sake, and maybe a short vid of a band. Other than that, no one will hear from me for as long as Im having fun, even like 9 days at the music festival lol.
