As for this song, it's by a Scottish band formed in 1987. They've had a good measure of success not just in their native country, but across Europe as well. They even went on tour with the Stones. "Better Days" is their only song to chart in the USA. It's damn good:

Los Lobos hails from East L.A.  Formed in 1973, their first major label album was released in 1984. When I first heard this song, it was so good I had to go out and buy the album. Oddly, it didn't chart here in the States; in fact, the only place it charted was in the U.K. at 57. Oh well. They've had a great career, are still together and have won four Grammies:
